Design and Technology
The Design and Technology department at St David’s is truly industry-leading with a focus on producing the engineers and designers of tomorrow.
The department boasts winning national design awards most years for the past 15 years and offers pupils unique opportunities to work with industry specialists whilst studying.
Using the dedicated CAD studio, pupils develop skills in 2D and 3D design to create industry standard work for A-Level or a vocational qualification. Pupils have access to the latest rapid prototyping equipment including a laser cutter, 3-axis lathe and a 3D printer.
From consumer products and industrial machinery to architecture, our pupils produce a diverse and advanced range of designs for a variety of applications - just one reason why many of our pupils enter industry straight after leaving us.
Learn the important basics of working with different materials in one of our purpose-built workshops. If you have a project you would like to work on outside of your lessons, you can use your activity time to indulge your passion.
