Clinical Assessment and Remote Access Teaching
The Cadogan Centre
Cadogan is a recognised Centre of Excellence within St David’s College. Since 1965 we have helped thousands of pupils from around the world with inclusive 1-1 specialist teaching. Following national and global demand for 1-1 teaching online, we have adapted our specialist provision for a digital, remote access platform and are equipped to provide full diagnostic assessment.
Dedicated Learning Support
Our dedicated Specialist Support teachers have postgraduate qualifications in the teaching and learning of pupils with specific challenges in: literacy ▪ numeracy ▪ working memory ▪ processing speed ▪ planning and organisation ▪ struggles with focus and attention.
What is Cadogan Online?
Cadogan Online provides an accessible gateway to diagnostic assessment and 1-1 specialist support for students through a bespoke program, regardless of your location. This provides extra support outside of the classroom, enabling learners to reach their potential. The support is offered as 40-minute lessons.
Who is Cadogan Online aimed at?
This provision is aimed at students who are not reaching their potential in their academic studies, pupils with low self-esteem or learners who want to boost their academic grades.
Mainstream classrooms do not always adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of all students. This may be due to students having specific barriers to learning that are not being catered for by their mainstream teachers who are not specialist teachers.
Indicators that pupils may have specific barriers to learning are: memory difficulties ▪ organisational difficulties ▪ writing difficulties ▪ visual processing difficulties ▪ reading difficulties ▪ auditory processing difficulties ▪ time management difficulties ▪ sensory distraction (an inability to screen out extraneous visual or auditory stimuli) ▪ sensory overload: a heightened sensitivity to visual stimuli and sound (an inability to cope with busy environments).
How can you access Cadogan Online?
The first step is to start a discussion in relation to the learner and their specific needs. Parents and teachers will be asked to complete a questionnaire to inform us of their needs.
How much does Cadogan Online cost?
The cost for Cadogan Online is contingent upon the needs of the individual and will take into account whether or not a diagnostic assessment is needed and the level of learning support required. Please contact us for more information.

What are the benefits?
Learners can understand their cognitive profile and their preferred learning style and can begin to understand how to use their strengths to support their challenges.
Learners who are verging on external exams may require support for study skills and working through specific topics within their curriculum that they are struggling to grasp.
Key recommendations will be made available for the learner’s mainstream teachers to enable them to provide an inclusive learning environment for the child.
Students with slow processing speeds and poor working memory will be advised of strategies they can employ to support their learning and what they would benefit from with regards to access arrangements in the classroom, assignment deadlines and exams.
If a student has difficulties with literacy, they will follow a multisensory program and with the right support they will learn to read well and improve their spelling and phonological awareness skills.
Dyslexia impacts phonological processing and memory, and the student will be taught strategies to overcome these difficulties.
Learners will be taught how to use assistive technology such as text to speech software and voice dictation software. This will develop their independence and productivity.
An individual pupil passport will detail what the student wants a teacher to know about them, their additional learning needs, how the teacher can help them, how the learner can help themselves, cross curricular targets, and their access arrangements.
Clinical Assessment as part of the remote teaching provision
Parents may be advised that their child would benefit from a remote or face to face Diagnostic Assessment by a Cadogan Assessor. This assessment takes place over a three-hour period and the assessment investigates a learner’s cognitive skills such as general ability, memory, and processing speed as well as literacy attainment and mathematical skills.
Online assessments for pre-16 students involve screening for dyslexia, challenges with motor skills, speech and language difficulties, visual processing difficulties and challenges with focus and attention, planning and organisation. Onward assessment referrals are recommended when necessary.
Online assessment for post-16 students is as above, however, ADHD and Developmental Coordination Disorder diagnoses can be made for this age range for educational purposes as well as dyslexia.
Assessment for Access Arrangements
Cadogan online can work with schools to assess individuals for their examination access arrangements.
