Last year to much excitement Girls Rugby was introduced to the sporting curriculum for the first time, and now they have even designed their own kit.
The school has two teams- in Year 8 and Year 9 and have gone from strength to strength performing well in their local fixtures. They’ve already signed to play in a tournament in London next March.
Jess Kavanagh, PE teacher and coach of the First XV, said the new kit has drawn more than few nods of approval from the rest of the school body. The slate grey kit with dashes of red and white certainly looks striking and will be sure to cut a dash during fixtures.
“The girls designed it all themselves, and have done a brilliant job, and we’ve also got three sponsors on the shirts - Conwy Kayaks, Rugbi 7/11 and AGH a local business, which is brilliant.”
She added: “We’ve also recently introduced football to the girls curriculum, and one of the teams has just played their first match, only losing narrowly.
“The two sports work well together with transferable skills, it’s all fun.”
