Today saw the long-awaited return of the St David’s College Carol Service. This year St David’s returned to our regular venue at St Paul’s Church, Craig y Don, Llandudno.
Last year’s event was hugely curtailed due to the pandemic with the whole event being moved to an online service. We gathered for our first indoor whole school event since the beginning of the pandemic and despite the mandatory face masks, staff and children alike joined in beautiful renditions of traditional Christmas Carols.
This year’s Carol Service was a first for more than one thing. It was the first major musical event from the new Head of Music Miss Hannah Cox. The newly formed St David’s College Ensemble sounded amazing and all of the performances were incredible. Well done to everybody.
It was also the first Carol Service from our new Chaplain, Mr Edward Gray. With stirring and poignant readings, we’re all looking forward to many years to come with Mr Gray.
Mr Gray said "Being together as a school for the first time in so long was very special indeed. The music, the smiles, the singing, and the Christmas theme all came together perfectly and it’s down to the combined will and spirit so unique to St David’s that made it happen"
Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, we had to limit the event to just staff and pupils with parents being asked to stay away. The whole event has been recorded by our outstanding Mr Nick Cogger and the BTEC Production Arts team; we will make the recording available to any parents or family members to view at their leisure.
