Today marks a special day in the history of St David’s College, as our first ever Girls Rugby Team travelled to Llanrwst to play their first game.
The wet conditions did nothing to dampen the team spirit as they played superbly against Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy, in Llanrwst. With it being Ysgol Dyffryn's first-ever fixture too, the future looks bright for girls rugby in the area.
St David's College Director of Sport, Dan Lycett has for a long time held a long-term ambition to field a Girls Rugby Team.
Mr Lycett said: “We are proud of our efforts to support the pathway for girls to progress to what they see now in the women's game.
“We are keen for this to continue through the year groups and mirror what we have on offer off the field.”
He added: “I’m massively proud of everyone involved in today’s match.”
Our team is very lucky to have Welsh International Rugby Player Jess Kavanaugh as their coach, who has proved to be an inspiration to them.
Ms Kavanaugh said: “Our girls played really well today and I’m very proud of them all. I can’t wait for the next training session and match, there is so much more to come from this group.”
All of our staff wished the team the best of luck-the school’s First XV better watch out!
