St David’s College is proud to report an outstanding set of GCSE and BTEC Level 2 results from our Year 11 group this Summer.

Having overcome a course disrupted by COVID restrictions our pupils have achieved a pass rate of 82% of A*-C grades, well above the national average of 68.2%. A third of grades awarded being A*- A or Distinction*- Distinction.

Stand-out performances include Thomas Pearce, who achieved four Level 9s, four A*, and a distinction in Additional Maths.

Thomas said: “I’m very happy with my results but I did work very hard to get them, I was studying for seven hours a day in the Easter holidays.

“I’ll be doing the three sciences and maths in the Sixth Form, as I want to become a doctor so I’m happy I’m on track at the moment.”

“To celebrate I’ve asked for a roast dinner tonight, with lots of gravy and a chocolate cake, made by my mum.”

Thomas Barclay has had quite a summer having been to Slovenia to attend the International Meeting of Young Beekeepers, and last month spent five weeks in South Korea, attending the Scout Jamboree.

To top it all he has received nine A*s and one A in his GCSE results.

“I can’t complain really about my results,” said Tom, as an understatement.

“I worked hard but it’s all worth it, and in the Sixth Form I’ll be taking all the sciences and maths as I definitely want to do something in science.”

Jasmine Sutton, also achieved excellent results, with all A* and A grades.

“I was so nervous opening the envelope and didn’t really sleep last night so I’m hugely relieved and happy.

“I think St David’s has given me the confidence to believe in myself and the teachers are always very supportive.”

Bella Russell was also very happy with her results, gaining a raft of A grades and Distinctions.

“I’m so pleased I did well in English and Art as I worked very hard for them,” she said.

“In the Sixth Form I’m going to take drama, art, biology, and psychology as I’d like to go on and study physiotherapy at Southampton University.”

Head of Academics Mr Mark Turner said: “I would like to congratulate our pupils and teachers on an excellent set of results overall.

“St David’s College has again exceeded national averages, which reflects the hard work put in by all.

“We are proud to offer a wide variety of curriculum subjects that allow pupils to excel in their preferred areas and help them to successfully progress on to the next stages of their lives.

“I hope they can now enjoy the remainder of the holidays and get ready for the start of their Sixth Form studies in September.”

St David’s College Headmaster, Mr Andrew Russell said: “Congratulations to all of you, what an incredible set of results across the board last week and today.

“Thanks to the exam team for all the hard work and preparation, to the call handlers and UCAS facilitators.”
