It’s been another good year for pupils at St. David's College, who arrived at the school earlier today to check anxiously what information lay within those inscrutable white envelopes.
Fortunately the anxiety didn’t last long, with over 70% of Level 2 awards (GCSE and BTEC) graded Distinction*-Merit / A*-C / 9-4.
Millie Greenhalgh obtained a selection of A and B grades at GCSE and is now looking forward to continuing into St. David’s College Sixth Form to study A-levels in Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography and Business.
Millie said: “I’m happy with my results and excited about progressing to A-levels. St. David’s College is very supportive with really helpful teachers. The small class sizes here mean that teachers can provide the individual support you need to help you with your learning.”
Also amongst those arriving at the school today were Year 10 pupils, keen to see the results of their end of year exams. Amelia Andrew was here to collect results for English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics and has high hopes for her GCSEs next year.
Amelia said: “I’m pleased with my results in Year 10 and obviously hoping to achieve well in my GCSEs next year as I want to continue with A-levels at St. David’s College and perhaps go on to study Sport and Psychology at university.
“All the teachers at the school are brilliant at giving you personal help towards improving your grades in a way that suits your learning style. For example, you can do one-to-one sessions with them to improve specific things you might have difficulty with.”
Amongst the stand-out performers this year was Will Greenhalgh, who achieved A*A double-award science GCSE, grade A in Design & Technology and grade 8s in Mathematics and Geography.
Head of Academics, Mr. Mark Turner, commented:
“Pupils here continue to impress us with the perseverance and resilience they’ve shown during their time at St. David’s College. We have seen them flourish both personally and academically over the last few years and the results are a reflection of their achievement, and that of the dedicated teaching staff here at the school.”
St. David’s College Headmaster, Mr. Andrew Russell, said:
“The results we’ve seen today demonstrate how far our pupils progress when they have the individual support and nurturing environment of the kind that the staff at this school provide. We’re looking forward to welcoming many of these pupils back to the Sixth Form in September to continue their learning journey at St. David’s College and fulfilling their aspirations for the future.”
Well done to everybody!
