St Davids College

Rydal

Lions on a winning streak!

The team saw the welcome return of Captain Eddie R, but sadly we were missing several regional RGC players due to prior commitments

However, rather than weakening the team, in true St David’s style this just gave additional opportunity for our Lions to step into the void and produce some controlled and direct rugby.

The game was stop start and ebbed and flowed; tries came from Head Boy Oliver A, using all his power and might to burrow over. It was a penalty try after second row Ollie HR was denied by the referee from short range with JKL adding the extras. Pick of the tries came from Orlando M who finished well out wide under pressure from the Rydal centres. The game was sadly cut short, but we won 19-17.

Lion of the match: Randall H who was impressive at the breakdown constantly creating slow ball for the opposition and creating turnovers and direct and physical with his carries.

Harrbio Hit: awarded to head boy / barista fall back and recent birthday boy Oliver A pinning the opposition fall back after a wonderful kick and chase.

Champagne moment: Luke C out on the wing with a box office run, bamboozling defenders. The icing on the cake would have been a try but his run set up the first score of the game.

The team travels to the Isle of Man this weekend to play King William’s College-always an exciting trip and we pray for calm seas and box office rugby. Good luck boys and well done yesterday. Sounds like it was an exciting game!
