Our climbers show Viking spirit!

The group spent the week learning ice axe and crampon techniques so they could climb on the region’s frozen waterfalls!

They’ve explored icy gorges and experiences some really low temperatures on the barren windswept mountains.

As well as this the group enjoyed cooking and living together in the cosy mountain chalet. They also built igloos and sampled some local foods.

Head of Outdoor Education, Mr Ian Martin, said: “One of the highlights was steep ice climbing and walking across the snow-covered mountainside at night with no headtorches-guided by the moonlight!”

He added: “Strong teamwork and good personal organisation was required to thrive as well as survive.

“They have all done brilliantly and have returned exhausted but with some fantastic stories and experiences.”
