The young cellist is a remarkably busy young man indeed! He’s only just returned from a 11-day course with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. They played concerts in London, Warwick and Nottingham
In 2023 Oliver won the ISA Young Musician Prize in the middle category, now he’s been put through the finals of the senior category (Years 10 to 13). He will perform in the Finals on February 5 in Oxford.
He will most likely be playing Saint Saens Cello Concerto in A minor-1st movement.
There were 120 entries for the competition and the standard of entries are always incredible.
Last year Oliver was invited to join the National Youth Orchestra of Wales.
He hopes one day to become a professional cellist at the London Symphony Orchestra or Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
His dream is to play at the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. That dream is becoming closer to reality every year.
Well done, Oliver! All of us here will be keeping our fingers crossed for you on February 5.
